County Council Cuts Costs and Improves Productivity with IT Solutions from Ergo

The IT services company will provide a managed print service and deploy Microsoft System Center Operations Manager as part of the Council’s plan to centralise the IT function in County Hall, Dundalk.

“These are very different areas of Ergo’s expertise and we are delighted that they can both help Louth County Council achieve greater efficiencies. It reflects the common ground between our solutions and the public sector requirement,” said John Purdy, Chief Executive, Ergo.

The first phase of the two-year managed print agreement has already been rolled out at County Hall, targeting the “hidden costs” of printing, replacing a proliferation of hardware and consumables with a small number of networked printers and multifunction devices. Phases two and three are currently in progress and will see Ergo’s managed print approach being adopted by a further seventeen council sites, including Dundalk Town Council and Louth County Council sub offices. 

Eugene Mulholland, Head of Information Systems, Louth County Council, said, “We needed to reduce printing overheads and thanks to Ergo we are now on the road, not just to cutting costs but to controlling them. We have much better visibility across the organisation and we are getting to a position where can use the use the printing platform to drive more efficient business processes.”

Louth County Council joins an extensive list of both private and public organisations who have adopted Ergo’s managed print solution, including Bord Bia, RPA, eircom, University of Limerick, Microsoft and Penneys.

Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, a software solution which helps to monitor, manage and report on mission critical enterprise systems and applications, has also been deployed.  The software enables end-to-end service monitoring, allowing IT departments to be more proactive in the way they run their environment.

Niall O’Flaherty, Head Network Administrator at Louth County Council, said, “We wanted to be in a position where we could tell users in advance if there was an issue, rather than have them calling us with the problem. We have achieved that with the help of Ergo.”

Ergo is Ireland's only Microsoft Services Ready Partner (the highest achievement for service delivery in a specialist area) for deploying Systems Center software.  In June of this year, the company was awarded the much coveted title of ‘Microsoft Partner of the Year’, further demonstrating Ergo’s superior competence in its deployment and delivery of Microsoft-based solutions.
