While sourcing for specific roles, a recruiter will often notice the same candidates across numerous databases/job boards, which is why it’s important to broaden the candidate pool to land the right placement. I use numerous online tools, to ensure we have the best candidate pool. Below I list those I find particularly useful in helping my clients overcome their recruitment challenges.
Google+ has approximately one third the amount of users than Facebook, however the most active users on Google+ are operating in the technology industry. Although you may be reaching a smaller market, it is a market full of potential suitable candidates. You can attract candidates on Google+ in various ways, such as hosting a Google+ Hangout. One of the main benefits to using Google+ is that it substantially increases your SEO – meaning the candidates not even using Google+ will more easily find your jobs just by using the Google search engine. This creates a more efficient recruitment process because candidates will more likely come to you, rather than having to seek them out.
Who has better networking ability – a Subject Matter Expert or a Recruiter? A trusted Subject Matter Expert of course! Leverage your internal networking by joining Yammer. Yammer is an internal social media site where you and your colleagues can exchange comments, news, and links in a news feed. At Ergo we use Yammer and it acts as a great way to network with colleagues, encourage referrals for a position, and offer a bonus for a successful referral. With more than 300 IT experts in our network, we’ve managed to fill and vet many roles due to the networks our employees have amassed.
