How To Stay Ahead Of The Curve
As an entrepreneur and CEO of one of Ireland’s leading IT companies, Ergo, I am often asked for business tips, be it relating to a start-up or established organisation. My key piece of advice is to ‘stay ahead of the curve’.
If a business is concentrating on the here and now, it will fail to succeed. It is crucial to have one foot in the present and one in the future. Every business needs to be paranoid about staying relevant. In business there is no time to stand still, you need to be innovating and spotting opportunities before your competitors do.
I believe that it is essential to foster a culture of change, don’t allow people to become complacent. Both management and staff need to be thinking lean, looking for better and quicker ways of doing things and, most importantly, innovating.
To stay ahead of the curve, you need to be informed of what is going on in your market and have an eye on the trends that beginning to emerge. At Ergo, we direct a lot of effort towards customer experience, conducting one-to-one interviews to obtain customer insights, identifying gaps in the market and, most importantly, ensuring our customers are happy.
We never rest on our laurels, we don’t celebrate another year of profit, but we do celebrate incubating new products, winning new customers, and delivering exceptional service.
