Solution Architect - Billing


A high – profile Telco organisation have a requirement to expand their current team and are looking for an experienced Telco Billing Solutions Architect.

The purpose of the Billing Solution Architect role is to define, define and Modify the overall technical architecture and strategy for all aspects of clients billing domain and systems. The architecture will be developed to provide solutions to meet the global business requirements, whilst ensuring compliance with the target Global architecture and architectural standards. The role will encompass all aspects of billing systems including Mediation, Roaming, Rating, Prepaid and Post Paid systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Architectural Roadmaps & Planning:

  • Definition of the Business Capabilities (combination of process and systems) required to support next generation billing services covering integrated rating, converged billing, wholesale billing, service inventory management and other eTOM billing domain functions.
  • Development of the IT/business capability roadmap to support business capabilities, aligned with the wider billing product roadmap.
  • Support other Architecture activities as needed

Customer Support (internal & external):

  • Engage with Consumer, Enterprise and Customer Experience business units to understand their requirements and identify/develop solutions that best meet their needs and fit with the overall technology architecture.
  • Build and maintain strong relations with vendors to ensure alignment of product roadmaps with clients technology roadmap and business strategy.

Delivery Execution:

  • Specify requirements for billing solutions to support integrated and converged rating, billing services, wholesale billing & service inventory management solutions.
  • Drive the implementation of billing solutions supporting and guiding cross-functional teams within Technology and Business to meet common objectives.
  • Work across all parts of Technology, Consumer, Enterprise and Customer Experience to ensure technical solutions can be designed, implemented & supported in accordance with clients objectives of being a leader in the industry.
  • Work very closely with the Demand Solutions Architects to guide and agree solutions that align with the Technology Roadmaps while addressing the customer need

Operational Support:

  • Work with Technology and Business to identify support models to meet target service levels and business objectives.
  • Identify support tools and processes required to support billing solutions, including performance and capacity management requirements.

  • Minimum 10 years experience in IT/Telecoms
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a billing architect role.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a Senior Technical/ Programme Management role with Customer Interfacing Experience
  • Knowledge and experience of convergent billing solutions a distinct advantage
  • Excellent track record implementing telecom billing solutions
  • Excellent understanding of next generation billing technologies and their business impact.
  • Excellent understanding of mediation, integrated billing, service configuration management, service activation, number portability & inventory management, wireline billing and provisioning
  • Knowledge and experience of payment integration to banking institutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work & present at/to Board Level
  • Good grounding in Software requirements analysis and design using UML (Object Oriented Analysis and Development)
  • Well versed in architecture frameworks and methodologies activation, number portability & inventory management, wireline billing and provisioning
  • Knowledge and experience of payment integration to banking institutions
