Ergo scooped two prizes at one of the most prestigious events in the Irish IT industry’s calendar, winning Company of the Year as well as Private Sector IT Project of the Year at the 2016 Tech Excellence Awards.
Ergo CEO John Purdy attended the gala dinner last Friday at the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin, where he picked up the awards. He commented, “It is terrific to be recognised by your industry peers in what has been a remarkable year for Ergo, and it’s to the credit of all our employees that we were able to impress the judges and come out top in two categories.”
Winning the Company of The Year award highlights what an extraordinary 12 months the firm has been through, selling its interest in Fenergo, spinning out new start-up FlowForma, and acquiring CRM specialist and IT resource provider iSite. A 40 per cent growth in turnover was achieved in the financial year as Ergo advanced its footprint in both cloud and on-premise IT services.
The Project of the Year award was for the successful implementation of Microsoft Office 365 for Greencore, the multinational convenience food manufacturer. As part of a drive to consolidate and modernise its IT systems, Greencore chose Ergo to carry out a complex migration across 40 sites in the UK, Ireland and the US, moving employees from Lotus Notes and Domino to Office 365 in the cloud. The big achievement was switching out critical communication tools without disrupting a “just-in-time” business, and delivering significant savings through the use of Microsoft’s Unified Communication tools.
The Tech Excellence Awards is organised by Mediateam, publisher of the TechCentral technology news web site and TechPro magazine. This year’s judging panel was made up of respected business leaders and Irish technology pioneers: Eoin O'Driscoll, Chairman of Forfas, Dr. Jim Mountjoy, Director of the Science Foundation of Ireland, Tom McCarthy, Managing Director of HelmAG, Peter McManamon, founder of Parthus Technologies, Dr. Seán Baker, co-founder of IONA, and Louise Nicholls, Head of Technology and Innovation at Brown Bag Films.
